Popular Deck Builds
Shanty cards are the core of the roguelike system. Each run, you assemble a deck of buffs that modify combat, exploration, and resource gathering.
Speed Clear Deck
Focus on going first and dealing massive burst damage.
- Wind in the Sails: +15% ship speed, +10% crew initiative
- First Strike: First attack each combat deals +50% damage
- Swift Current: +20% dice roll speed, reduces enemy reaction window
- Captain's Command: All crew gain +1 to highest dice value
Synergy: Combine First Strike with a high-ATK assassin like Mira Shade for devastating opening turns.
Turtle Defense Deck
Outlast enemies with healing and damage reduction.
- Iron Hull: -20% hull damage taken in naval combat
- Healing Waters: Regenerate 5% HP after each battle
- Steady Shield: +25% DEF for all crew, -10% ATK
- Second Wind: Once per voyage, fully heal when HP drops below 20%
Wealth Accumulator Deck
Maximize resource gains for faster progression.
- Treasure Hunter: +30% gold from treasure chests
- Fisherman's Luck: +25% rare fish catch rate
- Merchant's Eye: Shops sell items at 15% discount
- Bountiful Harvest: Gathering nodes yield +1 item

Permanent Skill Tree Priority
The permanent skill tree unlocks between Oblivion Journey cycles. These upgrades persist forever and drastically change your power level.
Priority Order (Early Game)
- Shipyard Expansion: Unlock more upgrade slots for all ships. This is the highest value early investment.
- Extended Storage: Carry more cargo per voyage. More cargo = more rewards.
- Recruitment Network: Reduce crew recruitment costs by 15%.
- Alchemy Lab: Unlock potion crafting. Healing potions save runs.
Priority Order (Mid to Late Game)
- Advanced Navigation: Reveal more of the map at the start of each voyage.
- Deep Sea Merchant: Unlock the Abyssal merchant who sells legendary items.
- Cannon Mastery: +20% naval combat damage. Saves hull durability.
- Oblivion Resonance: Start each new cycle with bonus gold and materials.
Important: Skill tree points are limited per cycle. Plan your path carefully - respecs are expensive!
Building Upgrade Priority in Ottopia
- Shipyard (Level 3): Essential for mid-tier ship crafting.
- Warehouse (Level 2): Storage is your best friend.
- Tavern (Level 2): Better crew轮换 and rare recruits.
- Supply Depot (Level 2): Cheaper voyage supplies.
- Mahjong Parlor: Purely for fun and minor gold income. Low priority.
Multi-Cycle Progression
Each completion of the main story unlocks a new cycle with increased difficulty and new content.
What Carries Over
- Ottopia building levels and upgrades
- Permanent skill tree unlocks
- Discovered map regions (fog of war removed)
- Certain legendary equipment (if "bound" via Abyssal ritual)
What Resets
- All crew members (must re-recruit)
- Non-bound equipment and items
- Ship upgrades (blueprints remain)
- Voyage progress and undelivered cargo

Deep Sea Merchant: Unlocked after Cycle 3 completion. Sells legendary blueprints and bound relics for Abyssal Pearls.
Recommended Cycle 2 Strategy
By Cycle 2, you should have several permanent upgrades. Focus on:
- Rushing ship upgrades using saved blueprints
- Recruiting your core team as early as possible
- Targeting new Storm Zone bosses for exclusive gear
- Building a dedicated naval combat ship (Black Baron if available)
